Gelatinous cubes, anyone?
« on: March 23, 2009, 01:54:37 pm »

ok, im attempting to code some awesome new stuff, (donthateme) but im still learning to mod, and therefore i may require some helps,

Firstly, is it possible to have a creature drop other creatures when it dies? preferably only when killed by certain weapons (like swords).

for now, thats really the only thing i need to know,

Anything else ppl want me to attempt to make and place in my mod?

I may just make a lovely menangerie of DnD stuff if im able to learn Modding fully

Love, Jakkarra

P.S, Plzdontflameme!!

EDIT: thats a thing, i doubt there will be, but is there a way of making my new creature spwan from rock when its mined out? or eat anything? (this could be simply picking anything it moves over, giving the impression that its devouring EVERYTHING!)

this could also mean its useful for detritus clearing, shove it into your fort, and watch it hoover up all the useless shit your dorfs leave laying around.

EDIT2: i may just give it ambusher, too, to make it even more hardcore.

Puddings fit what you're thinking of better, but no they can only drop items as corpses.

if not, insane damblock for all!!

also, good idea about the puddings, ill go get my 3.5 ed monster manual.

P.S (DnD is awesome)

You could make them create vermin when they die.  The creature doesn't even need to be a vermin.  You can make vermin cows and stuff this way.

More importantly, can you milk said vermin-cow?

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

You could probably just make the creature be so incredibly hot that it instantly melts anything it touches.

This would have the side effect of causing dwarves to burst into flames...but is that really a bad thing?  :D

Actually, if cows have the token that lets them be milked, I'd assume so then.

the reason cows cant be milked is because the code only allows carriable animals to be milked, only vermin can be carried, and only the purring maggot has the [MILKABLE] tag.

kk, lets move back to my cube.

im probs going to give it paralysing poison. and some schweeeeeet grappling attacks (itll also be acidic) meaning that itll be a bitch to kill :D

ALSO, its got ambusher! have fun with your invisible, acidic, huge, [NOPAIN] (and other no stuff) gooey minor building destroyer!

remember, this is for sado-masochists serious players. im going to make sure it can swim, too.

it is possible for it to spawn from rocks, yeah? i could just get it to be trapped in one-tile caves, somehow.
whatever, ill figure this out when i get my awesome creation done, mabye if i ask nicely, toady praise be upon him may find it within his awesomeness to allow for these small caves (or spawning from rocks) but im not getting my hopes up, he has a lot of work as it is.

this is going to be super-special-awesome!

Nope, currently no way to spawn from rocks. Unless you add the [DEFENDER] tag. Or maybe the [ENDING] tag.

Dammit, now im gonna have to go make DnD mods also. Good job, you broke my self-restraint.

There's no acid damage type.  The closest thing is BURN.
