Manufactured-only Toggle in Stockpiles
« on: February 15, 2008, 03:11:00 am »

It would be nice to toggle stockpiles to only allow items that were created on-site, and disallow items that were manufactured elsewhere (e.g. carried by enemies such as goblins and kobolds or imported goods from trade).

This would absolutely help on my current map, where a couple hapless idiots got into a fight with some kobolds way across the other side of the map, through 15-20 of the kobolds' friends; twice I've accidentally made a stockpile include steel items, and each time it's cost 3-5 dwarven lives as they run across the map into the waiting arms of the enemy.  It would also help general sorting: one pile for goblin and kobold junk, another for stuff made locally.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen this suggested already; perhaps I overlooked it...

There's a toggle between "usable" and "unusable" items which might do the trick, for weapons and armour at least.  Down in the bottom right corner I think.  If memory serves me right there used to be a local/foreign toggle, I think it transmogrified into the usable/unusable one at some point.
