I like the ideas behind this one
« on: May 12, 2004, 02:57:00 pm »

Now if I could only play it.  I downloaded, loaded up the exe, and I get this error about screen size and windowing it, fine.  I changed screen to the one above 600x800 and still windows, whatever, it works.

Here is where the problem comes in.  I can't read anything, I see God of Blood and it drips, I hear the music just fine, but I have no idea what is on the screen.  Looks like this:

/////////////

In different lengths, like an import game or something.  I randomly clicked and hit enter, not knowing what the heck I was doing mind you, and I ending up making a human male character.  I was walking around, clicking on the buttons (that pop up to scribbles, mind you) so I just walked for a minute or two, not knowing what I could do, what to press, or how to run, if I can.

How can I fix it, so I can read?  This happen before?

Something like this may have happened once before.  In the init folder, there is a text file that has an option about "old text" or something like that -- try changing and some of the others around and let me know if it works any better.  What sort of machine/video card are you running?

Woo hoo!  That was it!  I changed text to 100 and 100, still looked like MSPaint grafitti instead of text.

Your guess is as good as mine on what card I have, I know I have Direct X 9.0, but I forgot what's what.  It's a five year old Compaq Presario.  Pentium II, all with it's original cards with no updates (including the 95mb ram...ouch)

Thanks for help!  Can't wait to play now hee hee hee

(through random clicking I figured out how to make a new character, several times over, actually.  Are the graphics supposed to look...like Runescape Classic, only worse or is it my system?  And if they are, it doesn't really matter, the gameplay and things you can do is the kicker, graphics just help people visualize it anyway.

Thanks again!

Well, it's not supposed to look like anything yet, because it isn't nearly done, but what does it look like?  If you changed too many options in the init file, you could end up with stick figures!  There are supposed to be semi-crappy models and hills and trees and horribly drawn rabbits and a sun and stars at night.  And horrible horrible changes to the models when you cast the wrong spells on yourself.

Yeah.  Did the Flaying one, targeted Neck, looked like I was wearing an Egyption choker made of silver, and I couldn't move at all.  Nifty.
