Where do they grow?
What are they like?
Trees and wood don't have altered values in the raws so I don't think they could have high values.
This can easily be modded in.
code:

[MATGLOSS_WOOD:EBONY]
   [NAME:Ebony tree][ADJ:Ebony tree]
   [TILE:226]
   [PREFSTRING:Something about Ebony trees]
   [DRY]
   [BIOME_ANY_TROPICAL_FOREST]
   [SAPLING]

code:

[MATGLOSS_WOOD:SANDALWOOD]
   [NAME:Sandalwood tree][ADJ:Sandalwood tree]
   [TILE:226]
   [PREFSTRING:Something about Sandalwood trees]
   [DRY]
   [BIOME_ANY_TROPICAL_FOREST]
   [SAPLING]

Answer those 2 questions and they can be added.
Once again:

Where do they grow?
What are they like?

[EDIT]
What tile should they use?
[/EDIT]

Crap, I had one all figured up a few minutes ago.

I'm not sure that you have to put in "tree" for the name and adjective. None of the other trees do.

Another note: There can be multiple prefstrings.

I did a straight copy paste from mango trees. The only things that were changed was I replaced the word mango with <TREE> and made a prefstring to let Sketchy better understand what must be done.

If you want you can put it together for him.

So
Where do they grow?
What are they like?
What tile should they use? (What will they look like in the game?)

Ebony is a tropical evergreen. Sandalwood is a fragrant wood the is tropical/subtropical. Ebony is worth alot.

Why don't different woods have different values? Cedar shoul be worth something atleast.

Yeah It would be nice if the tags like VALUE, DAMAGE_PERC, BLOCK_PERC were enabled for all the material matgloss's.

As we now have armor (shields) and weapons(trap components) made from wood and swords from obsidian, it would be nice to be able to specify these things. Also things like the tags from the matgloss_metal, weapon, weapon_ranged etc., perhaps add some like CRAFT, MECHANISM, etc.
