Fear

Imagine in adventure mode you, as some sort of monster had ability to instill fear into creatures. Your quests and doings could earn a reputation as a monter. On the wound staus it could show fear or terror. goblin children never seem to run at the sight of a heavily armed dwarfand fear could fix that. It could make dorfs stop running away from things like deer and hoary marmots because they're not very scary at all. Totems could be set up to add ambient fear because a cave filled with mouldering carcasses and undead is certainly scarier than a garden of platinum and roses. Fear of the law could also do things.

y fortress is a truly horrible place to be. Imagine what other forts must be like if dwarves still imigrate there.

Not just any totems, mind you. Dragon, goblin, and kobold skulls would be scarier to an invading army than deer and hoary marmot skulls.

Perhaps totems of a creature's own race would scare them the most, followed by creatures in term of power. (dragon, hydra, demons...)

There should probably be a small chance of same-species totems enraging social creatures as well. Especially a dwarf seeing a dwarf-totem.
