Damn. This board is loaded with hostility. Maybe just pent up aggression toward me since the last release was in, like, July.
By the end of the day today, rabbits and bears should look more or less correct. This is important because they are defined using the "clades" instead of the species editors. Then we'll have 4 billion different types of rabbits and bears.
After that, I need to... lemmee check...
fix the code so that it doesn't crash when you attack trees... add picking up rocks and crushing them into dust, since I promised Zonk crushing items... make sure saving and loading work... and then whatever I have time for. There are a few things in the Plan, like stealth and ambush, that are a bit premature, so I'm not getting to that.
If I made any other specific promises to people for this release, I don't remember. I probably said I'd make the editors easier to use. That hasn't happened yet. I'll see if I can do it before the 18th, at least in some ways. The list of things to add (not the Plan, but a list of more immediate bugs and other things that I keep on my computer) has become several pages long. The magic release might occur over a few iterations, during which some magic will be added and a lot of bugs fixed as well. I'm not sure. I just have to get out of doing these constant tweaks without adding much substance. It's pissing me off and boring me to death. Anyway, so release on the 18th, some bug patches in mid-January, then a simple magic release at the beginning of February and another more satisfying one at the end, once I get some input. That sounds like a plan. I can't do any scheduling beyond that.
