Would it be dwarf enough?
« on: March 12, 2009, 09:10:19 am »

As a project to gradually terraform a mountainous region via tower-caps into a stepped pyramid that has a soil layer as the surface in the center with water running down the sides and bringing the rest of the map to lowest non-mountain surface point?  Maybe tossing in a few artificial lakes?

Sounds like a good show.

Man, dwarves are such a**holes!

Even automatic genocide would be a better approach

I figured I could utilize that tower-cap quirk of turning the muddy stone to soil and gradually carve my way down from the center.

Considering I've got 80-something z-levels of mostly rock, with a tiny patch of soil to start with, this is going to take a long time.

A general idea of what the map looks like so far:

RRRRRRSSS
RRRRRRFRR
RRRRRRRRR
RRRRRRRRR
RRRRRRRRR
RRRRRRRRR
RRRRRRRRR

R= rock
S= soil layer
F= Fortress

I guess I've just got to find the center of the map now and come up with some sort of construction to stick on the top.

Well, this is certainly taking it's sweet time, mostly because I have next to no wood and have to hoard every little scrap I get.

At least I finally found the lone water source on the map, though the cave river starts a good 40 z-levels up from the surface and the magma pipe is on the other side of the map and yet again goes up a good 40 z-levels or so.

At least I'm up to ten miners now after 2 years, and will hopefully have a tower cap farm going soon.

Plus I've got 10 levels of excavations roughed in already.
