Arifact trap parts and Exploading goblins

So recently I went through the Artifact list in one of my more Mature Fortress... I was ammused to find Three Artifact Trap parts amongst the list... Now nomrally I put all artifcats in a hall for others to marval and enjoy, but with increased goblin sieges I thought... what the hell.

So, Picking one of the main choke points, a place i KNOW goblins will blunder into, I putt all three trap parts into a weapon trap,  combined value over 1,000,000 dwarf bucks... Normall I only put four or so out of the 10 pen slots... This one? well the other 7 open slots i filled with Steel spikes...

All two soon, I get a SIEGE message pop up, marching toward me are a nbumber of swordsmen and hammer goblins, 3 seem to be heading directly toward my new Ubertrap...

The first goblin steps foot upon it and... Explodes...  No carcus, no wounding, in one moment there was a gobliong, the next flying goblin bits all over and a wonderful spray of blood..

i LOVE this game

LOL, seriously? And it always resets automatically (is never destroyed)? Wow, I love this game =D

Destroyed?  Traps don't get destroyed.  Stone traps and cage traps have to be reset, but none of them have to be rebuilt.  Weapon traps get stuck.

hah, yeah, i remember this happening when i decided to make a legendary weaponsmith by making tonnes of steel trap components. i had a line of traps each with 10 top quality serrated iron discs. it was so awesome to see the line of goblins march into them, their body parts would make it several z levels up into the fortifications above and onto the tops of the walls and towers of my entry courtyard.

whats really going to be impressive is when a megabeast walks into that trap of yours.

I need to test this on the Orcs.

So quick question: weapon traps don't need any supervision aside from when they get stuck? They don't need to be hooked up to a lever or anything?

"Yeah. My plan was to drop some kittens into the siege, and have my dwarves freefall into battle, landing on top of the kittens. The plan was kinda dumb though because the kittens were standing on grates, and the goblins killed them with arrows just as I was releasing the freefalling dwarves. So the dwarves weren't able to land on kittens and just fell and died."

No lever needed, no.  How would that be a trap if it wasn't automatic?

When is that guy going to finish the Dwarf to Goblin-Kins Graph ( Last two: Doomsday Goblin ( ? ) , and Ender Goblin aren't finished ) ; it now seems that PROBABILITY THEORY WASP PROFESSOR is going to lock us in with twenty Contraass Clarinets ( Illogical double of a Top Notch locks. ) , we need a Fiesta Ace to unlock the doors now.
