Save files! help!

i've been looking through the Data folder, trying to find my current fort save. and im a little confused. in the "Saves" folder there is a current folder and then my world. is "Current" my fort?

any help to clear this up for me aprreciated

Hi!

Short reply: Leave the directory called "current" alone and go for the one named correctly.

Long reply: Dwarf Fortress is a very complex game which does store some of the data even during normal game play into files on the hard disk. However, it is also an alpha version, so it is possible for it to crash. In order to avoid the corruption of data, when you start a game, its save is copied into the "current" directory. The version in the "current" directory is what gets changed during play. But when you choose "save a game", the data is written into the appropriate directory.

At least that is how I understand what is going on.
