hgave a draft and he mutters ""morgusil"" what the hell is morgusil???

Morgusil is the name of the artifact he's going to create if you get him the right materials.

well he doesnt utter anything else... Ive watch him in the shop, and usually iut cycles through the materials... All I get now is "Morgusil"

Sounds like a secrative mood to me. Besure you have a few of the following:
Bones
Shells
Wood
Stone
Metal bars(I've also had them go and grab raw metal on occasion)
Gems (both cut and raw)
Plant cloth
Silk cloth
Stone blocks
Aslo doesnt hurt to have cut glass if possible.

Try also checking his prefs, it seems some dwarves are picky about what they'll make their artifact out of sometimes, while others will grab whatever is available.

....They just refuse to stay down unless butchered, in which case their skins will haunt you until you subdue and tan them. Never has legendary butcher and legendary tanner seemed so valueable as in this release.

Did you get the "____ has begun a mysterious construction!" announcement? I think he's in the middle of creating the artifact, and Morgusil will be its name.

They only mutter the name if they have everything they need.  So you should be fine.
