Is Spray Painting overpowered?
« on: March 03, 2009, 11:46:22 pm »

Ok, so I've found that if I grab a can of spray paint and a bunch of hippies, then head down to my local crack house, I can whip up over 100 juice in less than a week with ZERO RISK.

Mind you, the spray paint doesn't ever seem to go away, so this is really only useful for an accelerated start but seriously, it's pretty crazy given how slow it is to accumulate juice by stealing tv's from peoples apartments and how DANGEROUS it is to gain juice from smashing up factory equipment.

In addition to this question/comment on power, does the spray paint ever get cleaned up / tagged over?  I haven't seen it happen yet, but I've yet to survive for more than a couple of months (my leader keeps getting one shotted by soldiers on the way out of apartments)

Protip: If your hippies have 100+ juice, you shouldn't lose if your founder dies.

Is it overpowered? Maybe. Five site actions and 10 conservatives killed = 100 juice as well, and is only slightly more dangerous if your well armed and armored. Go to the latte stand, walk around the edges till you find a single or two conservatives, machine gun them down then run. Four more days of that and you have 100 juice, 20 more days after that and you hit 500, another 25 days and your at 1000. Also, you probably have leadership way up there as well with all the juice you just gained.

Balance really doesn't exist right now.

Spray paint tags don't last forever.  They linger a while in run down locations however.  They should disappear after a month or two.

Yeah, In many cases I could have kept going, but with my elite leader dead it didn't seem worth it

Your leader isn't really all that indispensible.  Your leader starts out as a character who's very good for something.  But you can recruit people as good or better.  Gangsters make great fighters, are easy to recruit and might bring their own guns.  Professional thiefs start out really well skilled and get even better.  If you can't recruit a thief, anyone can become a good thief pretty quickly.  College students and hippies are dying to sign up.  Search through a few of them and you'll find someone with the stat/skill you need.

Not exactly easy, but maybe not as hard as restarting.

Your spray paint lasts a very long time in crack houses, maybe years. It lasts a pretty long time in areas with no security patrols or the like -- tenement housing, public park, etc.. It lasts no more than a month in upscale or high security areas, like most businesses, the police station, and so on.
