Sigged for pure dwarviness.
Oh snap.

There are six simple machines: the lever, the pulley, the inclined plane, the wheel & axle, the wedge, and the screw.  All of which could potentially be made of stone.  Even the screw, though that would probably be very difficult.  The pulley would actually require a rope, but that has been abstracted out of the game for convenience to the player.

If you will notice, the Simple Machines Forum icon is a basic lever.

it Quantum Mechanics and if you look you see it elsewhere to. the infinity refuse pile, bridges that go down then come up and nothings under it and, of course the water pump setup that makes infinity water. also they have perpetual motion machines and stuff like that! the only reason that dwarfs live in the ground and not in giant float citys is because they tantrum so easily. it be like "finaly we have completed our majestic city, wait hey my cat died! grrr" *smashes levitation machines power  source* city drops you all die.

Dwarves are masters of quantum tunneling and quantum entanglement!!!

Interestingly, Armok's name actually originates from arm_ok, a variable in one of Toady's earlier games that kept track of how many of your arms weren't missing.

I decided a while ago that mechanisms are an example of dwarven magic.

I was actually thinking of that  Family Guy short clip where "the
ancient marvels of ireland" were destroyed by them finding Alcohol. It applies much more nicely to DF than it ever did there.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

The rocks each have their own physical vibration which resembles that of a dwarf which has high fever, thusforth this vibrations 'link' one rock mechanism to another rock mechanism, due to the way they are carved they resemble each others vibration, thus pulling on eachother.

No no no no no.  No.  Bad.
Look at my last post.  All that stuff is just abstracted out for now.

I figure that a large part of any "mechanism" is a stone chain... it's hypothetically possible to carve a chain from stone, though the tensile strength of rock is terrible.

Conglomerate, for instance, should hardly be workable at all.

I alway picture that in the mount homes is this giant Telsa Coil, and the mechanics not only build coils that will conduct the charges of the main coil, but have some sort of action, and the installation is the tunning of the coils and the soldering of the wires to get the electricity to do something...

My guess is they just poke the mechanics until it creates something.
