Can a Dwarf use a crossbow and a shield at the same time?

i've  seen them do it. i've seen a dwarf using a crossbow, shield, and hauling a stack of bolts.

its weird since the crosbow it two-handed.. or maybe its only in melee that they use two hands??

Maybe the dwarves have their shields strapped to their arms, so they still have a free hand to do all that stuff. Though with a giant bulky shield attached to their arm, I don't see how they could load and fire a crossbow as fast as they do.

I give all of my marksdwarves bucklers and I've never had any problems.

They use full size shields fine.  All of my military and my hunters are equiped with shields and I have never had a problem.  (apart form the whole dual weilding socks thing that you occasionally get when training them)
