I have a 20 dwarf fort that has been sieged once or twice a season for almost every season from embark(orc mod, and I modded the goblins to have no fear and to not baby snatch).  The first two or three sieges were a bit tricky but I have it under control now.  My military consists of two champion marksdwarfs(they have never fired a single bolt against a target, and they each have almost 150 kills as of this writing).

For all size goblin sieges and orc sieges of 60 or less I only set one to on duty.  For sieges of 80 or more orcs I set them both to on duty and they kill them so quickly that often one or more squads never even see my fort's entrance before the siege lifts. 

So, wonderful, I have all the siege action I want. 

The problem I am having is the caravan's aren't coming with any sort of frequency.  I have human, elf, and dwarf caravans, but they might only come by once every other year if that.

I have been offering very sweet trades and offerings to each of the caravans but it doesn't seem to be having much effect.  Any ideas on how to increase the likely hood of getting caravans consistently.

Caravans don't come when you're under siege, so the years that caravans didn't come is probably because of this.

You can try eliminating the siege really really fast in hopes that the caravan might arrive after the siege, but it still might not work.

I had thought that might be the case but a few caravans have been unfortunate enough to get caught by some of the sieges I endure.

I am curious about how my two marksdwarfs, though.  They seem to be, for lack of a better word, uber awesome.

Marksdwarves tend to incur that effect.  Something about crossbows being the ultimate in assassination tech.

Thats because dwarven crossbows are actually cho-ko-nu's.
