« on: February 13, 2009, 05:01:53 pm »

Im havign an issue with DF. No mater what version I try of this, it always comes up the same. Without anything. I mean, no text, no words, no ASCII characters at all. In all the versions Ive tried, all come up the same. What is wrong?

This doesnt make any sense. The version .40d9 runs just fine with no errors, but 40d still doesnt run correctly...

I would have to say this is a driver problem of some kind.  Check for updates to your graphics card driver.  You might also try looking at the Omega drivers for your card; they provide slightly tweaked versions of the manufacturer's drivers and some extended control programs.

If 40d9 works, why worry about it?  Just use 40d9.
Next release is going to contain the graphics rewrite proposed in the d# series according to Toady's list anyway...

You need to tweak your graphics driver settings.  This graphical problem is commonly reported and always produces exactly that appearance.

It's a texture compression issue or something.  The common solution is to change the setting from "high performance" to...something else.  Maybe "high quality".

Shifting nVIDIA from "High Performance" to "High Quality" does nothing. Im going to try the Omega Driver.

Oops. Im sorry for wasting your time. As it would turn out, the nVIDIA hadnt been updated in a while... check that, in a long time.
