[40d9] Adamantine Doesn't Attract King
« on: February 11, 2009, 11:56:14 pm »

I accidentally blundered a bit and struck adamatine very early into my life of the fortress, looking for a magma pool. So I quickly scrambled to try and start making accomodations for the King, but he never came. I go to the information for my home civilization, and it says "this land has no important leaders," so did I not get a King because there wasn't a King to come over? Is this a bug?

I did notice that I didn't get a trade liason, so I think it did properly adjust my location to be the mountainhomes.

may be a bug - have you tried checking legends for info about your civilization history?

In your place I would be happy as hell I do not have to take care of King ;D. His demands are ... big.

Have you had another fort with the same world?  If so, did the king arrive there too?  And if so, did he die?  If so, then you will never have a king for that world, because new kings do not seem to be chosen after world gen finishes.

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Perhaps the humans conquered your civilization sometime during world gen?  We all know that they live in autonomous communes in which they conduct governatorial meetings twice a week so that the people may decide upon the most optimal course for future existance...

Goblins did it, poor Mountain Homes seem to have had like 14 dwarf kids stolen away in its early years, then a lot of those dwarves later came back to attack.

The Queen was a serious bad-ass though, she took out a number of the invaders during the repeated attacks herself, even despite suffering a moderate head injury in one of the fights.
