As Ingtak peers into the darkness, he spots a familiar shape.

"A SOCK!!"

As he bolts arcoss the room, several pressure plates are activated, sending serrated discs jutting out of the floor.

His stubby fingers close on the spider silk sock, and with a heave he tears it from the skeleton lying impaled on the floor.
The skull give off a erie groan, as the jawbone twitches...

(OOC:I will not let this die!)

The intercom turns on without warning again. All that can be heard this time are hellish groans and screams. In the background you can still hear the chittering from earlier.

Suddently the intercom goes silent and a voice is heard.
"Greetings adventurers. All your temple are belong to us. You are on your way to giant cave spiders. Make your time."

An eerie purple light shines in the skeleton's eyes, and it tries feebly to free itself. After a few moments it gives up. The skeleton proves only a small distraction for Ingtak however, as from the shadows lurks something far more fiendish. From the shadows, an ambush, curse them!

The first wave comes! 200 goblin warriors swarm through the shattered corridors! The temple's defences go haywire! Menacing spikes shoot from the walls without warning! Serrated Discs tear themselves through flesh and bone alike! Giant axe blades swing down from the shadows like the reaper's scythe! The very walls close in on the adventurers as everything is lost in chaos!

Round One, FIGHT!

(OOC: The rules are simple, write like you've never written before, slaughter each goblin individually using everything at your disposal, temple traps included. If you start to run out of creative power, cut your post short and let the others tear up some flesh. At the end of your post, note the death count.)

With a roar Ingtak spins into action!

From his axe a gust of fire shoots forth!
It strikes the goblin in the flesh! x38
It is burned away! x38

From his piwafwi Mittens jumps forth!
It slams into the skeleton in the body!
It is shattered!
Zogan Humbledoor, skeletal dwarf, has died after colliding with a cat!

The heat from Ingtak's blast fills the air. The very darkness becomes intoxicating, from the depths the echoes of horrific drums beats, deathly horns play. Behind everything is a horrible grinding sound, that of flesh and bone being crushed. The floors are covered in mixture of blood and grime, hiding any pressure plates from view.

As Ingtak lifts his hand, the fire opal on his golden ring blazes with energy!
A fireball shoots forth and explodes!

The expanding wall of fire strikes the goblin in the everything! x162
It is burned away! x162

The black bronze ring on his other finger creates a protective shield around Ingtak and saves him from the blast!

(OOC:I love Jarlaxle-esque magical objects!)

(OOC: I think the other adventurers need to roll to dodge before round two. Round two will be fun, or at least I hope it will be. I was actually expecting something more interesting than bang, you're dead. If this keeps up, I'll run out of ideas before a reasonable time has passed.)

D&D fireballs tend to kill everything they hit.

That is true. I didnt think you could fit 162 goblins into such a compact space though. Except that this is Dwarf Fortress, I guess you could fit them all on the same tile.

Compact?
One fireball can engulf an entire large room.

Just so you know, Ingtak has many many tricksy items.

Then...Might as well  :P

As Ingtak's fireball fades away, a ferocious roar is heard.
The ground trembles as the sound of thudding feet charging down the halls is heard.

Suddenly the gigantic head of Roaringsoap is thrust through the doorway, suds dripping from his maw.

Ingtak readies Deepbleed, as he stands, hidden, to the side.
With a massive twitch of his stubby legs, Ingtak soars towards the dragon as he lets loose a battlecry of vengance.

Roaringsoap cries out in anger as a sudden searing pain engulfs his right eye, and the trashing of his giant tail smashes the remaining kobolds into the realm of death.

Amazingly, Ingtak holds on to his mighty blade and tears it out and then back into the face of the terrible lizard.
The hypnotizing gaze of the dragon falls over Ingtak, and with a sharp inhale Roaringsoap lets loose his mighty stream of suds.

***

As his mind drifts back from the peace of unconciousness, a terrible pain racks his stout body.
With a groan of agony Ingtak pushes himself to a sitting position.
Wiping the blood from his eyes, still stinging from the soap, he lifts his hand and rubs a finger over the opal jewel in his platinum ring.

With a second oath of vengance, Ingtak vanishes in a burst of purple light...
