The "edge" (regarding trading caravans)
« on: February 09, 2009, 08:09:17 pm »

So, basically, my confusion has been brought about by this image in the wiki. It shows the edge of the map being wagon accessable, despite being underground. However, in my game, I cannot dig directly to the edge of the map. Is there something fundamental I'm missing here? Thanks!

Yeah, the edge in that image is not the edge of the map. That tunnel surfaces further to the right. You can't dig to the edge of the map.

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

Alright, that makes much more sense. Thanks!

It's impossible to tell if the edge is really the edge, but the edge isn't underground.

Furthermore, merchants can leave the map through any open edge tile. For example... my merchants went all the way through my fort and then exited the map through my damned cave river.
