Finding....
« on: February 09, 2009, 03:28:43 pm »

Ok... so I'm having problems locating decent or better than decent mods/sprites/whatever the hell they're called so that I'm not looking at all these damnable symbols.  I'd like to see actual walls, dwarves, monsters, etc.  Can y'all point me in the direction of some decent ones and explain how to put it into the program so it works?

Thanks in advance.

(I'm a chef, not a computer guy, so plain english as opposed to technical terms would be useful, please)  :)

Mike Mayday's graphic set.

That's the simple short answer.

I second Mayday's graphics set.  It's a separate download of DF that comes with all the necessary files changed already, so all you have to do is unzip it and play it.

I prefer the Dystopian Qantas graphics set and Guybrush's character set, personally...everyone's obsessed with Mayday's combined set, and I just don't get it.

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

Dystopian Qantas graphics set

I was all over this until Sphr's tileset came along.  While Mayday's is nice (and I must say the stylized dwarves are pretty awesome), it just doesn't quite do it for me (compared to the other two, anyway).

They're all good tilesets.  Maybe I should add two extra copies of dwarves to the raws, with each type using different graphics.  Then set the entity to allow all three creature types.
Dwarves is like a box a chocolates.  You never know what you're gonna get.
