Removing clothing
« on: February 07, 2009, 02:44:57 pm »

Ok, been searching, haven't found anything definite, so here goes.

I want my dwarfs to be nudists (basically). I want to remove all the extraneous clothing from the game, like socks for example.

so...

I DON'T want to remove armor from the game.
I DO want to remove pig-tail socks, dresses, random-article-of-pointless-clothing from the game.

How do I do this? Is it as simple as just removing:
[SHOES:ITEM_SHOES_SOCKS:COMMON]
[GLOVES:ITEM_GLOVES_GLOVES:COMMON]
[GLOVES:ITEM_GLOVES_MITTENS:COMMON]
[HELM:ITEM_HELM_HOOD:COMMON]
[HELM:ITEM_HELM_CAP:COMMON]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_COAT:COMMON]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_SHIRT:COMMON]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_CLOAK:COMMON]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_TUNIC:COMMON]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_TOGA:UNCOMMON]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_VEST:COMMON]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_DRESS:COMMON]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_ROBE:COMMON]

Etc, from the entity file? What about [CLOTHING]?

Is there an easier way to do it?

Just removing all of those tags will remove clothing from the entity that you edited. However, as clothing is set at world generation, unless you gen a new world all dwarves will still be wearing clothing, you just won't be able to create any more.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

That is all you have to do.

The game might complain a little in the error log, but it shouldn't crash so long as you regen.

Excellent, and what about [CLOTHING]?

The [CLOTHING] tag just gives them the desire to wear clothing. IF you remove the clothing from the entity files it shouldn't make a difference. Something you could do that just popped into my head would be to remove the [CLOTHING] tag instead of the clothing in the entity. What this would do is cause the dwarves to still show up with clothing in their trade wagons and you could still produce it, but they wouldn't wear any, I think.

Not that i find this particulaly useful at all, but i once had a Titan come onto my map as my queen, after i found adamantine, and after a few months, she stripped off all her clothes and ran arround hunting innocent creatures coming onto my map...i could show you the raws if you're interested...
