Evil Last Pit Demon Suggestion
« on: January 10, 2007, 11:46:00 am »

Instead of ending the fortress, make digging adamantium, really spawn the demon in dwarf fortress mode  :)

The demon will be strong enough to kill about 30 legendary uber powerfull dwarves with lengendary equipment.

If you survive, the dwarves that saw the demon will get insane or in any mood  :)
This mean: You can get a couple of arts, and a couple of deads too...  :) ) after 10 years, the "Nameless One" will show up, all the dwarves that see it will have 50% of chance on the first time to get panicked and flee to the outside, if he beats everyone, or if 2/3 of your dwarves to panicked, you get the "too deep" message. If you survive, you can continue playing forever  :)

I am sure that these can be intersting fights

Nah... if you want Evil... have 50-100 extra dwarf nobles come out of the pits. All demanding Star Ruby/Diamond/etc items.  :D

"Open the floodgates!  Open the floodgates!"

"I can't, sir!  The Levermaster has claimed them as her own!"

"Ahhh!"

"Hello duckies, I'd like you to build me a Fairy ivory turban, if it's not too much trouble."

"Ahhh!"

Well, to be honest I'd like the fortress to go on forever instead of ending just like that.

Just keep adding things that will happen AFTER you've dug enough adamantium - even bigger sieges, river, chasm, lava and pits spawn monsters at a more frequent rate etc.

I think that it will all be more interesting when we start to send our squads and armies out to fight goblin fortresses ala adventure mode.

But I'm sure the adamantium requests will still cripple your fortress to death... No wonder the dwarven king moves from fortress to fortress... Damn bugger. :P

I'm pretty sure Toady mentioned once that the Adamantine King is not the same noble as the Dwarven King, the latter of which only arrives after you fulfill a large number of other requirements.  I've never gotten him that way, so I don't know if his demands are different, but I would assume they are.

If they are different, maybe the real king's role is to prevent the usurping adamantine king from showing up and wrecking havoc?

i guess to avoid the endgame, you could play on a wolverine infested map and just extract all your adamantine from them.

or, you know, execute the adamintine king whenever he shows up, and just not mine any.

Yes.  There are a few threads on them; most of which are less than a month old   ;)
