Yes its been said, but does it really matters? We are talking about a GAME, and an ADDITIONAL option to display stats.

Behrooz's Law:
quote:
The relevance of ongoing discussion in a bulletin board thread is inversely proportional to both the volume and number of quotations appended therein.

Translation?  I stopped reading after page three, which is a shame, because there were some neat concepts about color-coding for UI, relative qualititative attribute determinations and other things before the pretentious blowhardery broke out.

Great job torpedoing the chances for any of the useful suggestions to actually be read or implemented...

Out of curiosity   ;) how did *that* move from being a theory into a law?

I support the idea of numerical stats because there's not nearly enough number crunching in DF.

I also want weapons to tell me exactly how much damage they make, like this:

code:
On Right Hand: ={{<<iron>>}}=
Damage 4d6 (+50% quality bonus +20% skill bonus)
Accuracy 20d12 (+10% racial bonus +13% enemy bonus -15% wind speed penalty)
Speed 8d43 (+24% magical bonus +16% red flames decal bonus)
 Stache 4d4 (+39% bonus w/ rebate)

so that I can minimax my play style in order to kill that giant in three turns instead of two and then complain that there's nothing left to kill in the game.
