One of my dwarf rangers managed to get into an under ground lake, with no way of getting in. I dont have a screen shot or any sort of file to back this up. I just recieved a message that he had been interupted by  a lizard man, to find he was rougly in the middle of the lake (x,y,z axis). The lake was in a completly seal cavern about 2 layers bellow the surface. I cant see any way how or any reason how he would have gotten in there other than a bug.

I conscripted him so he would defend him self, but unfortunatly he drowned.

I think he was out hunting prior to his mishap

Maybe he dodged through a fortification?

Your best bet is to upload your map to the Dwarf Fortress Map Archive so we can look for clues.

unfortunatly i abandoned this fortress. Twas a youg fortress, and whilst i was off getting a cup to tea, a large Ollman came in and killed have the party, excluding the hunter that had drowned several minutes prior and one jibbering survivor.

There were no fortifications surrounding the lake.
