My fortress gets an alligator 24/7, when I remove one, another one comes. How can I cage one specifically?

I double posted, so I though it'd be better to use a topic rather then waste it.

Cage traps and a bait on a rope behind it

actually, he's right. place an animal trap, bait it with meat. set it somewhere nearby the alligator, and eventaully, he SHOULD go for it.

I thought animal traps were for vermin only? Is it really possible to get [LARGE_ROAMING] animals with them?

I normally just set cage traps in the likely spots and let it go to luck, but if a baited trap would catch a large animal as easily as it does vermin ...

Its a long shot, but i've heard of people getting Giant Cave Spiders, but those may be considered vermin.

I don't think Pilsu meant that you bait the trap. I think he was saying that you put an animal on a chain in a small area, and a cage trap in the entrance to that area. This way, the alligator comes to munch on the animal and gets caught instead.

It'd be cool if unicorn refuse gives off rainbow miasma.
It should totally bleed the laughter of children, too.
