My military squad of five marksdwarves has been ordered to carry 1 ration. They are currently, as a group, carrying the entire food supply of my fortress, including nearly 400 meat and more than 500 prepared meals, and much of the booze as well.

I may need to kill them to get the food back.
I'll include a save when I get a chance this evening.

EDIT:
I spiked my Champion: She was holding 86 Meat, 163 Drink, 364 Plants, and 11 Fish, which I haven't collected in... I think at least 7 fort years. That's some vintage sushi.

These guys are seriously pinatas, now.

EDIT:
They don't eat from their backpacks, either, apparently. I have some off-duty dwarves locked in closets and they're starving just fine...
