I'm killing my nobles, will I suffer in the end?
« on: January 17, 2009, 06:18:00 am »

Everyone but the mayor (has 4 roles) and dungeon master gets locked up in their room until they die.

Are there any drawbacks to this? There's so much disorder in my fort I probably wouldn't notice, but still; is it a good tactic?

It is bad karma. Yes indeed you will die painfully and slow.

But your dwarves will love you for it

You will get less immigration (perhaps none). If any dwarves are friends with the nobles, they will get a sad thought from them dying.

Otherwise, AFAIK no there is no downside to killing them. Beware, though, at some point I think Toady has plans to add more penalties to them being killed so don't get too used to it.

No penalties AFAIK except if the nobles have many friends.

I usually keep them alive and happy unless their demands are too silly and annoying

You'll suffer in the end because, you'll grow tired of killing them (or just die of plain old age!) before they stop coming. My advice would just be to just keep killing them until you get some they like. Like a noble that likes chairs and iron.

I'm VERY tempted to resume my noble-infested fort and lock the baron and baroness in their room to stop them pinching all my damn trade goods. All the rings, and every single large gem I HAVE.

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

If you have no sand, he must have been an immigrant.
If you lost an immigrant with no other skill, why do you care?

Cause he might've been a legendary marksdwarf, temporarily disabled? Does that work? Not sure, but maybe?
