Widescreen fails to recover after minimising: Fullscreen mode only

In fullscreen mode, when I leave Dwarf Fortress paused and left on its own, it minimises itself to the taskbar. All well and good, right?

Only I got a nice shiny widescreen monitor. (Oooh, shiny!) And with this monitor, when I restore it after minimising, I only get to see the top left quarter of the screen.  :'(

This is not a showstopper: I can play it in windowed mode just fine.

I have this same problem but I have noticed a detail the poster seemed to not notice and might help somehow, so I am posting it despite the threads immense age :)

ever time you tab in and out, the area of the screen you see gets smaller, heading towards the top left corner like he said.
