Just wondering about magma.
« on: January 18, 2009, 04:41:50 pm »

If I make a room for killing nobles that I don't want to flood completely and then drain everytime, could I just make a room with a channel filled with magma that has water drip onto it to produce steam, killing said noble in the heat?

Alas, while steam traps worked great in the old version of DF(2D, where channels could vent magma and water to eachother without any problem other than deadly steam), they are currently harmless. Better just get your dead dwarf to a room consisting mostly of a drawbridge with one tile off as a bed assigned to the dead dwarf. You should know what the bridge is over, and what the bridge can do.

Oh, darn...  But, I guess that means I can still make a sauna.  Hm...  I still want some elaborate, non-atom-smashing, way of killing the purple menace...

Drop him in a pit of water just low enough that he won't drown, let him get used to his watery prison before dropping magma on top. Dig out every square except for the one he died on. Smooth and engrave that pillar.

Oh, hell, that is elaborate.  I could even make a museum of them that way!  I like it!

Tekkud: Well Bomrek, our statue garden is getting kind of full
Bomrek: What do you think Urist?  Do we have enough for a decent dining room?
Urist: Nah!  Knock down a few of these walls we need more hammerer sculptures.
