looking for fortress game
« on: January 12, 2009, 02:00:53 am »

im looking for a game where you build a fortress from scratch. a huge world, you start off as a guy or a group of people who build a fortress from stone and wood, and defend it from other fortresses armies and attack their forts.

sort of like stronghold 2 but more complex, much much much bigger map, and if possible an MMO

or like DF where you build a fortress from pretty much nothing but in 3-D

So, like, you want Multiplayer Dwarf Fortress in 3D?
I think if such a thing existed, you'd know about it.

Stronghold 2 is yer best bet. Or Black and White 2. Speaking of which, if BW2 lost its creatures and its deicentric approach, it would make a very nice RTS. I didn't follow the modding scene of that game, maybe someone already managed to turn it into a proper RTS?.. I'll go have a look.

WURM online seems to fit, however I haven't gotten around to playing that one yet. Give it a try, I'd say. It's free to play, but pay to win, so if you like it, register.

That's normal. Might I recommend going easy for 15 minutes? As far as I can recall, there are large groves there. If you find smallbears, they will help you to play the game. A very friendly bunch. Oh and if you find the ruins of "New Horom" on your way, that was my old undeeded village. Terraformed the entire thing myself :D
