You still haven't fixed the Kobold eyes, though.

Also, as these mini-screenshots from Slaves of Armok 1 can testify, Toady's kobolds are brown, goblins are grey.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

For military units;

Have them face the opposite direction, and from there you can either have them wielding the appropriate weapon or just have them color-coded, or both.

But having them look the other way makes identifying them at a glance a lot easier.

It looks like they are wearing sun glasses in the zoomed out images. Maybe make the eyebrows a tiny bit smaller.

One other thing: aren't kobolds supposed to be sentient lizards. Thus they do not need large ears or hair. Think small argonian from TES.

I havent updated in a long long time, and im afraid ill just be able to do it sporadicly at best...

I've made all the basic things now... no sub professions, no nobles, no traders/thieves/slaves etc, and no military yet. I hope it isnt to hard to diferntiate between the different professions

the reason I havent changed the kobold eyes is that yellow just doesnt look right :P... (its a tolight of a colour and it doesnt stand off enough from the whiteish fur I have picked for the kobolds) (I see my kobolds as more doglike than lizardlike)

I also dont see that much point in making the style of clothes very different in between the races. mostly because it will be rare to see multiple races doing the same profession on the same screen. having widely different clothing schemes would only confuse in my modest opinion. for military, traders and nobility id probably reconsider tough!



as stated before... there is some "squintage" going on, espesially at 1x zoom. Is it possible to make DF display graphics at 2x?

No, you would have to zoom it manually in a paint program pre-DF.

How about darkblue-ish kobolds?

I would make the yellow eyes stand out and they would be inherently harder to spot when skulking about.
 
Love the art by the way, reminds me a bit of Settlers I. :D

I think you should put some lighter pixels between the eyes -- a lot of them look like they're wearing headbands or something.
