Collapsing ceilings over enemies
« on: January 04, 2009, 02:35:16 pm »

So, there was conversation a while back, about creating a machine that would combine magma and water at a specific time, in the middle of space, in order to crush invading armies with rocks.

I was thinking about this, and was wondering if a seperate solution would be viable for this.  Namely, Ice.

Create a raised warmed area, and then drop water from it, freezing in mid-air, and crushing the goblins to death (alternatively, you could freeze them, but then you'd have to channel it out again before you could use it the second time.

Thoughts on how this would work?

I do belive that was even mentioned in the thread youre tinking of.
I've not done it myself but it seems to work. I think someone made a waterfall to bombard the ground below.

Which is why you would only allow 1 block to be created at a time.  It seems doable.  And come on, we're not looking for EFFICIENT ways to get rid of goblins...  how undwarvenly is that?

i dont think this would work because you would either have to have the water subterrainean to keep it from freezing in holding OR have magma beneath it to keep it warm and if you do that you wouldnt be able to drop it without it freezing before it dropped and clogging the output

Ice has a strange habit of defying gravity when you try to drop it. At least such was my experience with ice supported by bridges
