Gypsy-Like hordes
« on: December 09, 2008, 12:18:50 pm »

I've noticed this a few times, during worldgen, and so far it's only been caused by humans.
On small worlds it's appeared for me.
The Human Age, when there are no human settlements left in the world.
What seems to happen is that the entity is destroyed, but there are still members of that entity milling around in the wilderness, and, most importantly, breeding.
Eventually they've massively outbred the limited populations of the races who 'destroyed' them.

I know this is probably an artifact of there being no place for them to go, but I thought I should mention it since I was unable to find it on the buglist, and just in case it wasn't a known issue.

Is the bug that they never build a new town for themselves?

Probably because they're coded to [DEFAULT_SITE][liKE][TOLERATE] CITY but all of the sites have been destroyed and in small limited worlds they will not start new towns.

Can you reach a temporary workaround by making them [TOLERATE] the RUIN sites in their entity_default? Let us know how that goes.

Actually, this has happened to me, too.  It's the goblin babysnatchers.  Go into legends and export the generation info.  I suspect that most of the dark fortresses of your goblin civilizations are populated by humans. The humans get snatched, grow up, and outbreed their captors.
