[40d/d6] Rivers/waterfalls do not start in equilibrium
« on: January 02, 2009, 02:02:20 am »

Or, my map is bugged.

Anyway, I have a 24-tile wide(7/7 deep initially) river flowing N-S, and a 4-tile wide(7/7) river flowing into it from 4 z-levels up. Neither end of the lower river seemed to have the characteristic drop-off of water level that indicated which way it was flowing, and obviously the upper river also lacked this, being an inflow.

2 z-levels up from the river is an aquifer which may also be causing the flood, but none of the visible aquifer squares (dampwall which don't already have water near them to cause this, on the Z-level that digging into filled with water) seem to be dispensing water visibly, barring in the fall itself where it isn't obvious.

Or it's just the simple disparity in in and outflow size (24+4>24).

Anyway, bug still exists, I just can't find the original thread mentioning it.

That's not a bug. That's a problem waiting to be solved, preferably with magma.
