Creating a dam by dropping large blocks.
« on: December 27, 2008, 02:30:40 pm »

Now I've had a situation here, I'm currently planning my fort on a brook, it goes right trough the middle of it, I wanted to drain a certain piece of the brook so I could build a tunnel right trough it, then allow the brook to go trough under the tunnel.

However, preventing the brook from flowing is very hard and requires so much planning ahead that I don't know if it's useful doing so, and just rather dig the tunnel under it.

That however isn't my idea, how about a building that can be builded 1 tile above the water, which is essentially a large 8m³ block that's dropable in the water, creating a piece of a dam.

Some people have been suggesting ways to make droppable walls for use in aquatic projects; among these ideas is quarrying out entire raw blocks of stone and moving them.

Preventing it from flowing is very easy. Just build an array of screw pumps and have them aim in the direction opposite the river flow. This basically stops river flow, and you can build your tunnel without any further hassle.

but that's ridiculously time consuming and wasteful.

but anyway. I'd like to be able to divert a water flow to create, say a water tower, or somewhere i can blockade fish.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

pumps are probably your best bet then, unless you want to channel a new route for the brook.
