"Orky" means "subjectively resembling an Orc or Orc behavior"

"Orcish" means "deriving from or belonging to Orcs"

"Orcish" is clearly the correct adjectival form. ANYTHING can be "Orky", if it's rude, crude, and unlettered enough. "Orcish"  covers the required function much more accurately.

Enough, you seem to be under the delusion that Orcs actually exist, and have their own stated perferences and empirically observed linguistic habits. Newsflash....Orcs.....

ARE FICTIONAL CREATURES!!!!!

Thank you, Manhattan.

if your mainstream and generic (read: lame and uncreative):
"The Dark Orcish Fortress of Demonroasted"
or you could have:
"The Dark Orky Fortress of Demonroasted"

how can that not sound awesome?

I think that orcs should live in dark fortresses, instead of cities.
nothing cooler than seeing a huge black tower in the middle of the desert.

I'm agreeing with Marlowe here, though I'm surprised noone has offered up "Orken" as a third possible adjective.

As far as the raw edits Vincent, try adding tusks to your orcs, and adding a main attack for each, that should make them pretty tough.  I'd also say get rid of the [trANCES] tag, and swap their preferred site to a dark fortress.  If you want them to be possible candidates for world domination, give them preference for every biome, and let them tolerate any kind of site.  And I dunno if this would fit with your view of orcs, but mine were pretty cool when I made them demon-followers, just like the gobbos.

My version of Orcs are good-hearted, if angry big guys that live in the desert. I'm planning on having a different race being the evil conquestors.

And what's wrong with the [trANCES] tag? I want my orcs to go into military trances.

Well, only dwarves can go into trances in vanilla DF, so I see it as a dwarf-specific racial trait, to make them quite formidable despite their size.

First off, [no it musn't be said].

Secondly, it must be said you're confusing your own subjective opinion with objective proof.

Third, "Dark Orky" doesn't actually describe it as inhabited by orcs, because "Orky" just describes vague behaviour and cultural patterns without being specific about ownership. See four posts above.

Fourth, ANY race that you give the "Dark Fortress" habitat to will have their sites described in worldgen as "The Dark ----- fortress of [NAMEGENERATION]". This does sound cool. But sounds a lot cooler with any ----- word beside "orky".

Fifth, [we'll just leave it at that].

hey, if some elves conquer the goblins, it will turn out like "the dark elven fortress of Pansyland", but they still hug trees, and don't nail their victims upside down on them instead.

i don't actually give a fuck if something's title doesn't make sense, as long as it sounds awesome.

i don't like orc mods anyway, but not because none of them mention "orky", but because when i started to understand DF, i said "finally, a fantasy game that doesn't have orcs".

now good day.
and happy new year.
