[Community]Frozen To The Bone

Hello,

Although I do not have any reputation around here, I would like to share the story of my fortress, Uthimkottan, "Shakenminds". It is situated in the middle of a terrifying glacier far away from civilisation. Also, 5 of the 7 starting dwarves have only social skills. Hope this is gonna be fun, so if you're interested, just tag along :] BTW, if you want to take place in the story, just give me the details of your desired dwarf. Oh, and Merry Christmas :)

1st of Granite

Ice. Everywhere. No matter where you look, only fields of ice open in the view.

How did it all began? Our mad king sent his most closest lackeys and me with my friend (Rigoth the woodworker,he's also a good axedwarf) to erect a fortress in the middle of nowhere. His mad mind thinks there is adamantine somewhere down here.

We couldn't reject, as sharp swords were touching our throats when we agreed.

I can hear the ice wolves howling in the distance... these will be our fierce companions for a long, long time.

Strike the earth.

We quickly ran to solid ground and started digging deeper. I ordered the girly traders&diplomats to start gathering some berries.

4th of Granite

I dug out some small lodgings underground, and my friend's chopping wood outside. Also, a polar bear is running around our wagon. It scares everyone.

13th of Slate

A couple of things happened after my last entry.



Firstly, we've finished setting up our outpost. Now we have a couple of workshops and beds.

Secondly, we've planted some plump helmets. If these won't wither away soon, I'll be damn happy.

Thirdly, the ice wolves and the polar bear left. Now we've got... camels. What the shit.

OK guys, I'm back, there'll be an update pretty soon :) Oh and  sorry for the slow updates, I'm using my dad's laptop, since my own PC broke down.

14th of Slate
Things slowed down a bit nowadays. Since we've completely settled inside, I had some time to speak with my mates here.



Deromo here has a girlfriend... Damn, the last thing I need now is babies. Those freeloaders only eat and eat. No contribution to the society.

He looks pretty sad. When I asked him whats the matter, he just mumbled something and walked away...




Also, underground ice. Ice doors, anyone?

Here we also see our soon-to-be shaft. Once I reach the aquifer I'll set up a 'freezer shaft' which will allow us to freeze some of the water and dig down to layers of stone.

8th of Felsite



The water in the shaft didn't freeze... these are terrible news. Apparently it isn't cold enough. By the way, the ice wolves returned.
Now I'm sitting in my room with a terrible headache. Our future doesn't look good.

10th of Felsite



Oh boy oh joy! Our plump helmets didn't wither away! I've ordered our run of the mill brewer to brew some wine.
