Any way to hide Engravings?
« on: December 28, 2008, 01:26:53 pm »

Hey guys, I just engraved a bunch of areas in my latest dwarf fort to raise the value, but their look is really starting to annoy me. Is there any way I can make them just look like smoothed walls or something? I thought this was possible by changing the init settings but I can't figure it out.

I changed [ENGRAVINGS_START_OBSCURED:__] to "YES", but that didn't seem to do anything (not really sure what it does do). Thanks in advance for the help.

Um... d->v, highlight the engraved area to hide, hit enter.

It'll still look a bit different from smothed walls, but there is an option to hide engravings. It's under "d" somewhere.

EDIT: see above...

[ENGRAVINGS_START_OBSCURED:YES] doesn't affect engravings already in place, only future engravings ;)

Situations like this are why I use only sparingly applied floor engravings. Mass engraving never seems to turn out looking good.
