Some help with accent removal.
« on: December 21, 2008, 02:55:31 am »

I was about to download the application and text file from http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/User:Jackard/Accent_Removal . Then I discover that the text file is 404'd! Noes!

Does anyone have the text file? =)

These are the language text files for dwarven, human, elven and goblin languages.

Why would you want to remove the accents? Seems like non-accentual language speakers can't cope with them (oh yes, I mean you, Americans :P).

Because some of the accented letters are used as other objects so if you replace them with something more real with a tileset you get broken names.
P.S. Who's an american in this thread?

Even if you "remove" the accents it still shows them (at least with the mayday mod).

Userpay, you can't see anything which is not existant :).
Do you mean some specific names which are still broken even with these files I've posted? This may be an issue with the names (I could miss a single name or two). If it was so, tell me which words are broken still.

Why would you want to remove the accents?
Uncapitalised names bug me.

Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
