I like to listen to the accoustic parts of Opeth songs while playing DF. I edit out all the death metal parts and just have one really long track.

yay, Opeth :3

I like listening to Ensiferum or Iron maiden most of the time, but should I happen to get a megabeast I'll play "I" by Black Sabbath.
Especially if it's a titan or colossus.

You can find codecs somewhere on the internet that allows you to play .ogg files and, I assume, save them as something else.

I have a friend who loves classical guitar and he was amazed the first time he heard me playing Dwarf Fortress.  I can't wait until the seasonal music goes in.

Listening to this whilst playing DF equals coolness :P

... I want to say I hate you for that, but I can't stop giggling. ;D

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I can play the files on my PC already through Winamp; it's my MP3 player, as in the sort you carry in your pocket and listen to on the bus or whatever, that has no .ogg support. Anyway, I found one on CNET that did the job and will put them on DFFD later today.

Jake, you're looking for Audacity.  It is a fine, fine program, and totally free.  If it's not what you got off CNet, download it anyway.  It does everything that you could possibly want done with sound.

(Edit:  Sorry, I should have posted a link.  This is the version I use, 1.26.)

Thanks Bromor; I'll track it down later.

To return to my request, can anyone tell me, why this link isn't available anymore?
http://rtl-now.rtl.de/wwm.php?player=1&play_last=1

Is there another possibility to get those df music tabs?

Dose this finnally mean I can play the DF guitar song without figuring out every note?

...*copy* *paste* ah crap, damn format. Oh well it looks like a mess on my part, but with some tinkering I should have it looking like what you typed.

Anyone looking for more music to play in the background in the same vein as the original guitar that comes with the game?  I suggest music from Diablo 2, particularly the tristram theme and other wilderness areas.  It has music to match any area you could place your fort, really!
