Not so much a bug, as an oddity
« on: December 17, 2008, 04:48:49 pm »

After a recent battle, I noticed a goblin finger hanging in midair, one z level above where the fight happened. The level above is open to the one below. And the finger was next to a wall, but had nothing there to hold it up. I prefer to think of it as the finger getting stuck on the side of the wall, rather than levitating on its own. It eventually disappeared when it rotted away.

Just struck me odd. Not sure its a real bug tho.

This is a known bug; parts of bodies or entire bodies occasionally freeze in midair, and can get there when the parts/bodies in question fly upwards from a strong blow. The freezing can be activated from any sort of freeze in the game itself, such as saving the game, though I've also heard of this happening when the game lags tremendously (i.e. you looks at 'stone' under your stocks page on a big map). Either of those could have happened if you had such an event during the battle. Or it could have just stuck up there randomly, the game frequently has trouble with flying parts/bodies.
