Might have something to do with NumLock or CapsLock or somesuch key... or it may be the type of keyboard you have, or if you're on a laptop, that could be a big part of it... Got any specific information you can give us like that?

IIRC, it'd be 'move secondary selection up/down'

Also, most laptops have a Fn (Function, I think) key that should allow you to use the... tyughjbnm keys, or something like that, as the numpad when you hold it down. That plus and minus will work, while the -/_ +/= keys won't.

EDIT: Wait, I think it's normally the 789uiojkl keys... doesn't really matter, most of the time, they're marked fairly clearly on the keyboard.

Don't always works cleanly on Linux, in my experience, and sometimes it's just easier to re-map the key than try to figure out which key-combo to pound on.

I remember it being rather arduous as well, but I figured I might as well bring it up.

Also, please don't post the same thread in two different places.

Buy a USB keypad.  They sell them at Best Buy, Radio Shack, Staples, etc.  It might seem like too much work to go out and buy a keypad just for Dwarf Fortress, but it's totally worth it.
