Evil forests can be fun too, my current fortress is plagued by blendecs and three goblin sieges per year... The phantom spider silk is a nice incentive for not sealing up the fortress despite the obvious danger.
Too bad that the value of this stuff is the same as for the boring pig tail thread, but I think that I earn extra point for style with the black-dyed phantom spider silk clothes :)

Chech out my thread in community games. Sliver dye+phantom spider is a really nice thing.
