I'm working on a soil layer, because there is an aquifer. Fortunatly, there is a magma pipe on my map, so I thought "Oh, hey, I'll use the obsidian for my fire-safe stuff!"

Or so I thought. Even though I have a stone of obsidian on my map, it says that it doesn't have access to it. There is a clear line to it, too.

I went into building Walls, and it doesn't register Obsidian on the list.

Is this a known issue/feature/bug/some-other-shit?

Dwarves will NOT dig the wrong thing where you designate.

and sometimes they dig a giant tunnel leading to a death-trap of flooding lava when you specifically wanted to have a lava waterfall covering the entrance to your fort, thus killing most of the fort anywayz.....
