Generating a totally screwed-up world
« on: November 25, 2008, 07:03:23 pm »

Yeah, like the title says. I've been trying to create a world in which Mother Nature has taken the laws of physics, stuffed them into a great cosmic blender, and mashed the 'puree' button until it broke. I want scorching deserts smack in the middle of freezing glaciers, huge mountain peaks in the middle of the ocean, etc. But every attempt I have made has ended up with either infinite rejects, or a world that looks entirely too... normal. Can anyone point me in vaguely the right direction? Any help is much appreciated.

Well, infinite rejects can be solved by turning off the rejection conditions (all of those "minimum _____" lines in world gen)

I'm not sure if the world generator will be willing to do that, though, since it tries to be realistic. I suppose you could set all the variances to maximum and hope for the best...

Turn off all those, and then...  Break the worldgen numbers by hand-editing the worldgen file.  I have a world with 200% volcanism - an entire ocean boiled away as I watched, steam constantly forming on the borders.

Set all variance to max, that should go a long way.
