I've tried a few graphic sets, but I've always come back to the regular old Dystopian Rhetoric, which I still use, but it's no longer being maintained.

I'll update it one of these days, mark my words.
Last revision is quite old. I'd have to see it to believe it, DR. :( But BOY would I ever like to see it. It's the best tileset, and it works great in 8x12 proportion.

I use MayDay though I have to say I liked the thinner barrels and old soldiers better. The new stuff seems fat and poor quality, especially the soldiers

I'll be using Dystopian Rhetoric's graphics set forever, I think.

I like having graphical creatures, but I prefer to leave the ASCII alone.  Mike Mayday's pack and the others that replace ASCII with sprites look absolutely awful, to me.  I didn't realise they were so popular!

You do know that you can still use all the other creature graphics and leave the original tileset on?

DR: Indeed, some of the human and elf graphics are yours and I plan to base my future elf graphics on your base model. I didn't credit specific tiles, as my sets also use Sphr's, Bane's and Tocky's graphics, it would take hours to post specific credits and I always try to emphasize the fact that this "DFG" is simply the graphics set I use, not my full work. The one thing I can take full credit on are the gobs, the dwarven military+nobility and a few animals.
And I have to agree, your stuff has a certain great retro charm :)

Sweet! I'm on the list! Votes? Who cares about votes?

The set there is the old one- the new one is Here. The sloped corners mean that diagonal tunnels will have smooth walls.

It's definitely not the prettiest, as it's more of a compromise between fancy and simpler graphics.
Actually, I should make a new version...

I use DR but made some modifications, beards range from brown to gray to white based on skill/nobility level and I added new graphics for all of the professions that were previously not differentiated, I've been thinking of distributing it but I won't actively maintain it afterwards.  If anyone else with modified DR sets thinking of distributing perhapses we could combine our work and make an improved set.

This thread has turned out really great. I wonder if we can get more votes? I noticed several votes being placed in the last few hours. :3

I prefer true ascii for most things, but I actually don't mind creature graphics, it's just that almost all the creature graphics out there are designed to work with a non-ascii font, and not with ascii background (a multicolored, shaded, nicely done piece of pixel art looks bizarre next to an otherwise pure-ascii world. So I made my own for the civ races (humans are smiley faces without beards, goblins are skinny smily faces with fangs, ect.) but I do wish there was a pack as complete as Mike's et all that was designed to work with the ascii.

I also wish races didn't revert back to their letter representations when killed!

My personal favorite (and the one that gets my vote, of course) is Sphr's. The others just can't beat the crispness of the icons, the high visibility of the tools/weapons, and the military dwarves are simply kickass looking (specially the elites and champions).

A lot of votes so far! It's nice to see what everyone is doing with their graphics, although I'm somewhat surprised by the number of people that don't use the graphics settings.
