The eternal quest for the mythical beer tree.

Unfortunately all that turns up are these useless soap and cheese maker trees.

Dwarf Fortress I think is unique in the sense that for the most part it doesn't actually try to be funny but often does out of pure randomness or unintentional hillarity.

I kinda like that Dwarf Fortress is often both dark and serious but also has a very light side to it. It is almost a dark comedy.

Actually, instead of thinking of Pratchett (who I haven't read NEARLY enough of), I was thinking of Piers Anthony and Xanth.

They aren't pomegrenades, people, they are pineapples. (seriously, in Xanth, Pineapple trees drop fruits that explode and shoot shrapnel everywhere. You know, like the grenade. There are also slipper trees, shoe trees, trees that grab people and eat them, etc.)
