*SOLVED*[40d] Non-citizens claiming coffins but not being buried
« on: November 13, 2008, 10:08:54 pm »

A caravan guard died to a fire man in one of my fortresses, and a coffin is now marked as his resting place. However, none of my dwarves will put him there. They have Burial enabled, and they happily move him to a graveyard stockpile, but they won't put him in the coffin. The same thing happened in another fort with a berserk dwarf.

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.

His/her body has probably been autoforbidden, which is a new feature. Try claiming the body (or 'k'ing over it and seeing if it's forbidden/surround by { } )

The same usually happens with all armour dropped by Goblins now, but I think there's a corpse setting as well.

Checked that. Like I said, he goes to the graveyard pile, but not his coffin.

EDIT: aaand, now they seem to have buried him. Waited until he was a skull and bones, though.

Remove your Graveyard stockpile.

(One of my woodcutters met an Ambush, I assigned him a tomb immediately. After he died, he was placed in the Graveyard stockpile. When I removed the Graveyard stockpile they buried him in his coffin ...)

Non-citizens will be buried in coffins you've designated for burial; this included dwarves who fight for the goblins. (Most of the ambushes in my last fort had 1-2 dwarves fighting on the Gobbo side.)
