Okay, you need to train up some epic hunters. I recommend designating only nearby trees ("safe ones") for woodcutting, and designating woodcutting only on your new hunters. That and pump operating. Install some pumps (maybe they'll even be useful! waterfall, anyone?) They'll quickly get nice axedwarf skills, especially if you turn off wood hauling. Then turn on hunting, and assign them some dogs if you haven't already. They'll axe their way through the forest, wooden or squishy.

If only dwarf mode dwarves could light fires, then it'll be alot more fun.

Heh, booze grenades...

The dwarf that sees a group of elves standing close together.

For that viciously bad pun, I'm gonna introduce a NPC named Vlynndar just so that I can kill him of in a cruel and unusual way.
Watermelons are pretty important.

Vlynndar wins.

Look about if the elves bring you, say, a fire imp, since you don't have any magma on your lonesome. Mod the game, make it trainable, train the bugger, floor hatch all the stairs up, push the bugger out into the bright annoying sunlight, lock all the floor hatches, and come up in a year. Solves the wolf problem.

It takes a dwarf to use magma for snow shoveling
