If you view dwarves in a nordic or germanic light here's a breakdown of phonetic sounds associateed with a given sex\gender for german:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_declension

So you could probably do something simple like Dwarfën for males and Dwarfër for females  for your story.

Or keep to cannon. There is boy, girl, man, woman. Male and Female are for any race species, so you could use that.

Well, you could use the same logic as the English language.

Human - Species name
Man - male
Woman - female

Thus:

Dwarf - species name
Arf - male
Woarf - female

I think hitting on a hot woarf sounds kinda nasty, so it's awesome.

With the elves, it's Lf and Wolf, kinda cool.

Actually if you take german as example you would get dwarfin as female-isation. Wikipedia says "Dwarf-women" if i did read that right.

It was mostly for inspiration as I'm no linguist. In general fantasy derives more support from the quick recognition of a concept rather than it's practical and logical application.

What kind of story are you writing? Will it be in the community forum?

It will be in the forum eventually, right now I need to purge it of spelling mistakes and what not.. Oh, and write it. That too. I've got about.. two chapters worth of material right now that I need to spellcheck and maby improve a bit in some places.
