One of many reasons I stopped playing D&D: Bullshit mary-sue characters.

Also, magic and rule bullshit.

"I'm going to be a half-orc Macguyver. I'm probably going to get killed in the midst of some fuck-awesome swashbucklery. FEAR THE ACES UP MY SLEEVE, KRAKEN!"

"2 wands of Obscure Spell, 2d6 DEX damage with no save. Kraken is paralyzed. GG."

"...."

I think you're playing with the wrong people... 0.o

At any rate, hooray for hippos. Aid of homcidal maniacs in DF. Somehow I never get any animals to help me. Lucky enough, my towns tend to be in thickly forested areas, so I can run (or crawl) behind something before the inevitable finishing bolt.

(And seriously, Kender? 'They rob people blind but if you call them on it it's your fault, and they're so emotionally powerful that everyone is forced to agree with them' Kender? 'Get along with everyone they meet and are uncorruptable' Kender? I mean, in a book there's some kind of minute insanely small chance it could be done well, but in a roleplaying game? Where the heck are those from!?)

Argh, I've been running about this town for ages. It's still a + sign and I can't get it lower. How do you export legends? Do I have to settle somewhere and come back?

That's what I did the first couple times.  It turns out you have to travel away from the site and come back a couple times for it to truly "catch up" when all of the inhabitants are 100% dead.  This also allows any stragglers who call the city home but wander the wilds to return for you to kill them.

Alright! I got it to work. I've reduced an entire civilization to ruins and killed every last being. Didn't die, (even though I dodged/blocked/ate four different iron bolts in a tavern at one point) and came out of it up several pieces of Masterwork armor too. Seems like at the first sign of the human stampede in their bar, every available man, woman and child responds and gathers up in the mayor's house where they all mill about like fish in a barrel.

But oh god, the Hippos. Some of these towns I'd already half-massacred a few seasons ago so they were down on able-bodied soldiers. But most of the towns and cities were built along this horrible hippo infested river. Half the time in those pre-visited towns, I'd trot in and it'd be under Hippo/Milkfish attack (somehow, villagers kept landing in the water where they'd be accosted by milkfish) and there wouldn't be enough NPC army to stop them. There was some poor kid in a river who somehow didn't drown and kept chewing up Milkfish, but the Hippos were beasts. Running around killing indiscriminately like elephants of old. At least twice, I could not find the last guy in town, but the Hippos reared out of the water to settle old grievances and hunted them down for me.

Couldn't have accomplished this without em.  :-\

Same here.  I've annihilated four towns thus far; two of them were under heavy wolf attack after the first couple adventurers, helping me to more quickly reduce their number and slaughter them wholesale.  I got cornered in an apartment building by a pack of 'em, firing arrows down the hallway as they advanced, but a helpful elf saved the day. Sadly, I had to strike him down when he went hostile to me (I was attacked by a kender: he missed, I didn't, thus it's my fault!).
